PG Hostel


  HISTORY

     UDCT Hostel no. 3 also popularly known as Postgraduate (PG) Hostel which      catered to many past students. The foundation stone of this hostel was laid in 1980. The construction of this hostel was finished in 1985. PG hostel was inaugurated on the auspicious day of 27th September 1987. PG hostel has 46 student’s rooms, 2 sports rooms, 1 TV hall, 1 reading room, 1 administrative block, 3 staff rooms, one guest room, and warden’s house. It had initial intake capacity of 92 students.


OFFICEBEARER:

     Prof. D. W. Rangnekar was the first warden of hostel. He remained as the warden of P.G. hostel till 2000. He was then followed by Prof. D.N. Bhowmick as the warden of the P.G. hostel up to 2005. Then our beloved present warden Prof. A.M. Lali took the charge in December 2005 and he is holding the post till today. The office staff of hostel no. 3 comprises of 1 clerk, 2 peons, 2 sweepers and 3 watchmen. Presently the office staff is as follows:

          The Student council assists a lot in managing the various sections of hostel. Year-wise elections are held in the beginning of the academic year to elect the delegates for hostel committees. The elected delegates, together with the warden, constitute the Council of Delegates. The student council consists of General Secretary, Sports secretary, Cultural secretary, Reading room secretary, Vigilance secretary.

           The Council meets once a month to evaluate the previous month and plan for the next month. MESS:- Hostel No. 3 has its own mess since 1989. The mess is managed by fellow students. Mess has around 10 employees for preparing and serving food. The mess committee consists of General Mess secretary, Mess Accountant, Menu secretary. The menu is decided by General Mess Secretary and Menu Secretary. Present

                 During this academic year, we accommodated around 45 First year Masters Students and 10 Ph.D. students, while earnest attempts have been made to accommodate all the deserving students. Right now the hostel is full with a highest ever strength of 110 students, representing the variegated nature of the country, making our hostel a microcosmic India.
