Dr. Paramita Bhattacharjee received the Ambuja Cement Best Ph.D (Tech) Thesis Award for the year 2003 for the thesis entitled "Supercritical Fluid Extraction for a Valuable Food Constituents" under the guidance of Dr. Rekha S. Singhal

Ms. Poulomi Dastidar received the 1st Prize in Poster Competition organized by Protein Foods and Nutrition Development Association of India during National Nutrition Week Celebration at P.N.Doshi Women's College, Mumbai on September 6, 2003.

Nihal S. Parkar of T.Y.B.Tech (Foods) received a medal, cash prize and certificate for obtaining second rank (98.6% percentile) in the annual Chemistry Aptitude Test conducted by the Indian Chemical Society at Ruia College. He also received the first Prize at the Scitech Olympiad at Techfest 2004, IIT, Powai.

Minal Lalpuria was selected for the L'Oreal scholarship programme (in association with UNESCO) for young women in science in 2003.

Dipak S.Pisal was awarded the best paper prize (for paper entitled "Effect of various stress parameters on Carotenoid Production in Dunaliella salina" under the guidance of Prof. Smita Lele) at International Conference on Emerging Frontiers at the Interface of Chemistry and Biology (ICB-2003), April 28-30,2003 Organized by Regional Research Laboratory, Trivendrum, India.

Subhash Nair was awarded G.M. Abhayankar Award (for the poster entitled "Screening for microbal pullulanases from natural isolates" under the guidance of Dr. Rekha Singhal & Prof. M.Y.Kamat), presented at IFCON 2003, CFTRI, Mysore during 5-8 December, 2003.

Rajesh Bhosale & Javed Shaikh were awarded Third Prize for the poster presentation ((for the poster entitled "Microentrapment of Black Pepper Oleoresin within Starch Based Spherical Aggregates" under the guidance of Dr. Rekha Singhal) at the 5th International Confention IFCON 2003, CFTRI Mysore for the poster presentation during 5-8 December, 2003.

Mrunalini Mhatre was awarded the First Prize for the oral paper presentation (for paper entitled "Production & Partial Characterisation of Alkaline Protease from an Isolate of Marine Niches" under the guidance of Prof. M.Y. Kamat) at the Prof. D.V.Tamhane Memorial Seminar on "Recent Trends in Food and Biotechnology Research" organized at UICT on December 20, 2003.

Sameer K. Akolkar was awarded the Second Prize (for paper entitled "Exopolysachharide Production from Lactobacillus plantarum Isolated from Fermented Ragi (Eluisine coracona)" under the guidance of Prof. S.S. Lele) at the Prof. D.V.Tamhane Memorial Seminar on "Recent Trends in Food and Biotechnology Research" organized at UICT on December 20, 2003.

Sumedha Keskar was awarded the Third Prize (for paper entitled "Standardisation of Media for Mass Cultivation of Haematococcus Pluvialis in a Sterility maintained photobioreactor" under the guidance of Prof. S.S. Lele & Prof. M.Y. Kamat) at the Prof. D.V.Tamhane Memorial Seminar on "Recent Trends in Food and Biotechnology Research" organized at UICT on December 20, 2003.

Kavita Tarade was awarded the Third Prize (for paper entitled "Kinetics of Degradation of Saponins in Soybean Flour (Glycine Max.) during Food Processing" under the guidance of Dr. Rekha Singhal) at the Prof. D.V.Tamhane Memorial Seminar on "Recent Trends in Food and Biotechnology Research" organized at UICT on December 20, 2003.
