The Chemical Engineering Department is known as one of the best chemical engineering schools in the world. The Chemical Engineering Department, from its inception to date, maintains a continued tradition of high quality education, research and academia-industry interaction. There is a regular output of high quality research in the field of multiphase reactors, catalysis, Bio separation, enzyme technology, environmental engineering, process intensification and process development. Detailed information on the various activities is given in the sections that follow. Given below are the main features of the Department. Despite depleted faculty strength the Department has been able to keep both its academic and industry interactions at a sustained high level. The number of research students per faculty member in the Department is the highest in the Chemical Engineering Departments in the world. According to a recent study (Prof. Sommerfield, Georgia University, USA) the Chemical Engineering Department of ICT ranks among the best chemical engineering schools of the world.
